A few preliminary comments are in order that this bibliography may be utilized judiciously. The purpose of this guide is not to list every book on a particular subject area or even every worthwhile book. Some writers have much more complete compilations than mine. For example, on the little book of Ruth alone, Evans lists sixty-two sources of which forty-four are annotated, whereas I mention thirteen.
